Question 1

What is a KVM VPS?

Accepted Answer

A virtual private server: your own operating system with full root access, its own guaranteed RAM and NVMe SSD storage, and vCPU cores, isolated from other customers by KVM virtualization. A VPS is not a whole machine; for that, see /servers/dedicated.

Question 2

How much does a VPS cost?

Accepted Answer

The current plans and their prices are shown on this page, with any tax that applies shown at checkout. Every plan includes full root access, KVM virtualization, NVMe SSD storage and its own IPv4 address.

Question 3

Is this VPS managed or unmanaged?

Accepted Answer

Unmanaged: you get full root access and look after the operating system and software yourself. Our team looks after the hardware and the network, and helps with reinstalls and reverse DNS.

Question 4

Is the CPU shared?

Accepted Answer

Your RAM is reserved for your VPS at all times. The vCPU cores run on AMD high-frequency cores (Ryzen 9) and are shared fairly between the VPS on the host, as on any VPS.

Question 5

Do I get full root access?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every VPS includes full root SSH access. You can install any software, change any configuration and run Docker or your own services.

Question 6

Where are your VPS servers located?

Accepted Answer

In a Hetzner data centre in Helsinki, Finland. The host has ECC memory, enterprise NVMe disks in RAID and a 1 Gbit/s uplink shared by the VPS on it.

Question 7

What virtualization do you use?

Accepted Answer

KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine): full hardware virtualization with your own kernel, so Docker, LXC and any Linux software run as they would on a server.

Question 8

What operating systems can I install?

Accepted Answer

Choose Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04, Debian 12 and 13, AlmaLinux 9 and Rocky Linux 9. You pick one when you order and can reinstall another from the client area at any time. Our VPS plans run Linux only; Windows is not offered.

Question 9

Can I run Docker and Kubernetes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. KVM gives you full kernel access, so Docker, Kubernetes and other container tools work as on any Linux server.

Question 10

How fast is VPS deployment?

Accepted Answer

Your VPS is set up within 1 business day of payment, and the root access details are emailed to you.

Question 11

Does the VPS come with a control panel?

Accepted Answer

No. A VPS comes with SSH root access only; you can install a panel of your choice yourself. cPanel is not offered on VPS. If you want cPanel, our shared cPanel hosting plans include it.

Question 12

How are backups handled?

Accepted Answer

Your plan includes snapshots you take yourself from the client area: 1 on Starter, 2 on Business, 3 on Enterprise. A snapshot is kept on the same server, so it is a quick undo point, not a backup. Nightly backups to a separate backup server are a paid add-on. Snapshots work on VPS built on our current platform; a few older VPS cannot take them, and support can arrange a backup instead.

Question 13

Can I upgrade my VPS plan later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open a ticket and our team moves your VPS to the larger plan; the new resources apply after a restart.

Question 14

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout.

Question 15

What is the difference between VPS and shared hosting?

Accepted Answer

Shared hosting puts many sites on one server managed by us. A VPS gives you guaranteed RAM, your own operating system and full root access, so you can install any software, and you manage it yourself.

Question 16

What is the difference between VPS and Dedicated Server?

Accepted Answer

A VPS is a virtual server on a shared host with guaranteed RAM. A dedicated server is a whole physical machine. See /servers/dedicated for those.

Question 17

What if something goes wrong with my VPS?

Accepted Answer

Our team monitors the host and handles hardware and network faults. The operating system and software on your VPS are yours to manage; our support team can help by ticket.

Question 18

Do you offer reverse DNS (PTR) records?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Request a PTR record for your IP address from your VPS page in the client area; our team sets it within one business day. The host name must already point to the address. Mail servers need this for good deliverability.

Question 19

Can my VPS send email directly (port 25)?

Accepted Answer

Outbound ports 25 and 465 are blocked on every VPS by default, to keep our addresses off spam blocklists. Port 587 (authenticated submission through a mail provider) works. Once your identity is verified (eKYC) and your account has been in good standing for 30 days, you can ask support to open them; they are closed again if abuse is reported.

Question 20

Does the VPS include IPv6?

Accepted Answer

IPv6 is coming soon. Every VPS gets its own dedicated IPv4 address today.

Question 21

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Accepted Answer

Refunds on VPS plans follow our Refund Policy at /refund, which sets out exactly what applies once a server has been provisioned. Please read it before ordering.

Question 22

Can I get a Windows VPS?

Accepted Answer

No. Our VPS plans run Linux only: Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04, Debian 12 and 13, AlmaLinux 9 and Rocky Linux 9.

Question 23

Why choose us for VPS hosting?

Accepted Answer

Linux KVM VPS on AMD Ryzen 9 hosts with ECC memory and NVMe disks in RAID, guaranteed RAM, full root access and its own IPv4 address, from the same team that looks after your domains and hosting.
