How to Activate Your New cPanel Hosting

How to Activate Your New cPanel Hosting

Just purchased a cPanel hosting plan from {{COMPANY_NAME}}? This guide walks you through the activation process and first steps.

Automatic Provisioning

After completing payment, your cPanel hosting account is automatically provisioned. This typically takes 2-5 minutes.

You will receive:

  1. A payment confirmation email.
  2. A welcome email with your hosting details.

What to Do After Activation

Step 1: Verify Service Status

  1. Log in at {{SUPPORT_URL}}.
  2. Go to Services.
  3. Your new hosting should show as Active.
  4. Click on it to see your server details.

Step 2: Note Your Server Details

On the service detail page, record these important details:

  • Server IP Address — for DNS configuration.
  • Nameservers — ns1 and ns2 to point your domain.
  • cPanel URL — direct panel access URL.

Step 3: Point Your Domain

If you registered your domain separately or with another registrar:

  1. Go to Domains > click your domain.
  2. Update Nameservers to the ones shown in your hosting details.
  3. Wait for DNS propagation (usually 30 minutes to 24 hours).

Tip: If you ordered the domain and hosting together from {{COMPANY_NAME}}, the nameservers are configured automatically.

Step 4: Login to cPanel

Method 1: SSO from Client Portal (Recommended)

  1. On your service detail page, click Login to cPanel.
  2. You are logged in automatically.

Method 2: Direct cPanel URL

  1. Visit the cPanel URL from your welcome email (e.g., `https://server.example.com:2083`).
  2. Enter your cPanel username and password from the welcome email.

Once logged in, here's what to do first:

  1. Install WordPress (or your CMS):

- Go to Softaculous or WordPress Manager in cPanel.

- Click Install.

- Choose your domain.

- Set admin username and password.

- Click Install.

  1. Create Email Accounts:

- Go to Email Accounts in cPanel.

- Click Create.

- Enter the desired email address and password.

  1. Check SSL Certificate:

- Go to SSL/TLS Status in cPanel.

- AutoSSL should automatically install a free SSL certificate.

- If not yet installed, click Run AutoSSL.

  1. Set Up Backups:

- Go to JetBackup (if available) in cPanel.

- Review the automatic backup schedule.

- Download a manual backup for safekeeping.

Tip: Give AutoSSL up to 15 minutes after domain propagation to automatically install your free SSL certificate.
