Setting Up Domain Forwarding
Domain forwarding (also called URL redirection) lets you automatically redirect visitors from one domain to another. This is useful when you own multiple domains and want them all to lead to your main website.
Types of Domain Forwarding
301 Redirect (Permanent)
A 301 redirect tells search engines and browsers that the domain has permanently moved to a new location.
- SEO benefit: Passes link equity (ranking power) to the destination URL
- Use when: You have permanently moved to a new domain, or you own alternate spellings/TLDs
- Example: Redirecting
yourcompany.nettoyourcompany.com
302 Redirect (Temporary)
A 302 redirect indicates a temporary move. Search engines will continue to index the original URL.
- SEO behavior: Does not pass link equity
- Use when: Running a temporary campaign, A/B testing, or seasonal redirects
- Example: Redirecting
sale.yourcompany.comto a temporary landing page

- Frame/Masking — Browser URL stays the same (not recommended for SEO)
- Click Save Changes
Tip: Always include the full URL with protocol (e.g.,
https://www.example.com) as your destination.
Setting Up Email Forwarding
Email forwarding redirects emails sent to your domain to another email address.
- Go to Domains > My Domains > select your domain
- Click on the Email Forwarding tab
- Enter the email prefix (e.g.,
info,contact, or*for catch-all) - Enter the destination email address
- Click Add Forwarder
Tip: Use a catch-all (
*) forwarder to ensure you receive emails sent to any address at your domain. Be aware this may increase spam.
DNS Propagation
After setting up forwarding, allow up to 24-48 hours for DNS changes to propagate globally. During this time, some visitors may not be redirected.
Troubleshooting
- Redirect not working: Clear your browser cache or test in an incognito window. DNS caching can show stale results.
- Redirect loop: Ensure the destination URL is not the same domain or does not redirect back to the source.
- SSL warning: If you are forwarding to an HTTPS site, ensure the source domain also has SSL or use a redirect-only (non-masking) mode.
- Email forwarding not received: Check the destination mailbox spam folder. Ensure MX records are pointed correctly.
