WHM Dashboard Overview
The WHM (Web Host Manager) dashboard is your central hub for managing reseller hosting accounts, server resources, and administrative settings. This guide walks you through the key sections and features of the WHM interface.
Dashboard Layout
When you log into WHM, you will see several key areas:
Navigation Sidebar
The left sidebar contains categorized menus for all WHM functions. You can search for any feature using the search bar at the top of the sidebar.
Server Information Panel
The main dashboard displays at-a-glance server information:
- Server hostname and operating system
- cPanel/WHM version and build number
- CPU usage and load averages
- Memory usage (RAM and swap)
- Disk usage across all partitions
- Uptime since last reboot
Key Feature Categories
1. Account Functions
Manage cPanel accounts under your reseller plan:
- Create a New Account: Provision a new cPanel account with domain, package, and credentials
- List Accounts: View all accounts, their disk usage, bandwidth, and status
- Modify an Account: Change package, quotas, or features for an existing account
- Suspend/Unsuspend: Temporarily disable or re-enable an account
- Terminate an Account: Permanently delete a cPanel account and its data
Tip: Always verify you have a backup before terminating any account. This action is irreversible.
2. Packages
Define hosting packages that set resource limits:
- Add a Package: Create a new package with defined disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, databases, and addon domains
- Edit a Package: Modify existing package limits
- Delete a Package: Remove unused packages
3. DNS Functions
- Add a DNS Zone: Create DNS zones for domains
- Edit a DNS Zone: Modify A, CNAME, MX, TXT, and other records
- DNS Cluster: Configure DNS clustering for redundancy
4. Security Center
- Two-Factor Authentication: Enable 2FA for WHM access
- Password Strength Configuration: Set minimum password requirements
- SSL/TLS Management: Manage SSL certificates for server and accounts
- ModSecurity: Configure the web application firewall rules
5. Server Configuration
- Basic Setup: Server contact email, nameservers, and hostname
- Tweak Settings: Fine-tune server behavior with hundreds of options
- PHP Configuration: Manage PHP versions and handlers (PHP-FPM, CGI, etc.)
6. Email
- Mail Delivery Reports: Track email delivery and diagnose issues
- Email Routing: Configure how email is handled for domains
- Exim Configuration: Advanced mail server settings
7. Backup Management
- Backup Configuration: Set up scheduled backups
- Backup Restoration: Restore full or partial account backups
Using the Search Feature
WHM contains hundreds of features. The fastest way to find what you need:
- Click the search bar at the top of the left sidebar (or press
/) - Type keywords like "create account", "php", or "backup"
- Click the matching result to navigate directly to that feature
Tip: Bookmark frequently used features by clicking the star icon next to them in search results.
Resource Usage Monitoring
Keep an eye on your resource allocation:
- Navigate to Account Information > List Accounts
- Review disk and bandwidth usage per account
- Check Server Status > Service Status to ensure all services (Apache, MySQL, IMAP, etc.) are running
