How to Choose and Customize a Website Template
Choosing the right template is the first step to a great website. This guide helps you select and customize a template to match your brand.
Choosing a Template
Browse by Category
Templates are organized by industry: Business, Portfolio, Restaurant, Blog, E-Commerce, Health, Real Estate, Education.
What to Look For
Focus on structure and layout, not colors or images. Consider: homepage layout, available sections (hero, features, testimonials), navigation style, blog layout, and mobile appearance.
Tips
- Choose based on layout — colors, fonts, images are all easily changed
- Pick a template with fewer sections than needed — adding is easier than removing
- Test mobile preview before committing
Customizing Your Template
Changing Colors
Go to Site Settings > Theme/Colors. Set primary color, secondary color, text color, and background color using hex codes (e.g., #3B82F6). Use your brand guidelines or tools like Coolors.co.
Changing Fonts
In Site Settings > Fonts/Typography, choose heading and body fonts. Good pairings: Inter + Inter (clean), Playfair Display + Source Sans Pro (elegant), Poppins + Open Sans (friendly).
Replacing Images
Click any image > Replace Image > Upload, Stock Photos, or URL. After inserting, adjust crop, size, alignment, and always add alt text for accessibility and SEO.
Editing Sections
Click text to edit, click buttons to change labels/links, click icons to swap, click backgrounds to change colors/images/gradients.
Rearranging Sections
Hover to see controls, use move arrows or drag to reorder.
Adding New Sections
Click Add Section and choose from hero banners, feature grids, testimonials, pricing tables, galleries, contact, FAQ, and more.
Removing Sections
Hover > click Delete/Trash. Removing a section deletes all its content, so check first.
Switching Templates
Go to Site Settings > Template to change. Warning: switching may reset some customizations. Finalize your template choice before adding extensive content.
