Creating Email Accounts in DirectAdmin
DirectAdmin allows you to create and manage email accounts for your domain. Each email account gets its own inbox, which you can access via webmail or configure in a desktop or mobile email client.
Creating a New Email Account
- Log in to DirectAdmin
- Navigate to E-Mail Manager (under Account Manager)
- Click E-Mail Accounts
- Click Create Account
- Fill in the details:
- Username — The part before the @ (e.g., info for [email protected])
- Password — Set a strong password
- Quota — Storage limit in MB (leave as 0 for unlimited within your plan)
- Send Limit — Maximum emails per day (optional)
- Click Create
Tip: Create professional email addresses like info@, support@, sales@, and admin@ for your business.
Managing Existing Accounts
Change Password
- Go to E-Mail Accounts
- Click Modify next to the account
- Enter the new password
- Click Modify
Change Quota
- Go to E-Mail Accounts
- Click Modify next to the account
- Update the Quota field
- Click Modify
Delete an Email Account
- Go to E-Mail Accounts
- Check the box next to the account
- Click Delete Selected
Warning: Deleting an email account permanently removes all emails in that inbox. Download any important emails before deleting.
Email Client Configuration
Use these settings to configure your email account in Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or mobile devices:
Incoming Mail (IMAP — Recommended)

Tip: Use IMAP instead of POP3 so your emails stay synced across all your devices.
Setting Up Email Forwarders
- Go to E-Mail Manager > Forwarders
- Enter the email address to forward from
- Enter the destination email address
- Click Create
Setting Up Autoresponders
- Go to E-Mail Manager > Autoresponders
- Click Create Autoresponder
- Configure the message, subject, and schedule
- Click Create
Troubleshooting
Cannot Send Emails
- Verify SMTP settings and port (465 with SSL)
- Check that your send limit has not been reached
- Ensure your IP is not blacklisted
Cannot Receive Emails
- Check that MX records point to the correct mail server
- Verify the mailbox is not over quota
- Check spam/junk folders
Login Failed in Email Client
- Use the full email address as the username
- Reset the password in DirectAdmin
- Ensure SSL/TLS is enabled in your client settings
