How to Get Your Domain Auth Code (EPP Code)

How to Get Your Domain Auth Code

An Auth Code (also called EPP Code or Transfer Key) is a unique password assigned to your domain. It is required to transfer your domain to or from a registrar.

What Is an Auth Code?

  • A unique alphanumeric code assigned to each domain
  • Required for all gTLD (.com, .net, .org) transfers
  • Also required for some ccTLD (.in, .co.in) transfers
  • Acts as a password to authorize the transfer

Getting Your Auth Code

Step 1: Log in to the Client Portal

  1. Go to {{SUPPORT_URL}}/client
  2. Log in with your credentials

Step 2: Navigate to Your Domain

  1. Go to Domains
  2. Click on the domain you want to transfer

Step 3: Request the Auth Code

  1. Look for Get Auth Code, EPP Code, or Transfer Key
  2. Click to request the code
  3. The code will be:

- Displayed on screen, or

- Sent to your registered email address

Tip: Auth codes are case-sensitive. Copy them exactly as shown, without leading or trailing spaces.

Using the Auth Code

Transferring Away

  1. Unlock your domain (disable Domain Lock)
  2. Get the Auth Code (steps above)
  3. Go to the new registrar
  4. Start a domain transfer and enter the Auth Code
  5. Approve the transfer via email confirmation
  6. Wait 5-7 days for the transfer to complete

Transferring In to {{COMPANY_NAME}}

  1. Get the Auth Code from your current registrar
  2. Go to {{SUPPORT_URL}} and search for your domain
  3. Select Transfer instead of Register
  4. Enter the Auth Code during checkout
  5. Complete payment
  6. Approve the transfer via email

Important Notes

  • Auth codes typically expire after 5-14 days — request a new one if it expires
  • You cannot transfer a domain within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer (ICANN policy)
  • The domain must be unlocked before transfer
  • The domain must not be expired (renew first if needed)
  • The admin email on the WHOIS must be accessible (transfer approvals are sent there)

Troubleshooting

Auth Code Not Working

  • Verify the code is entered exactly as provided (case-sensitive)
  • The code may have expired — request a new one
  • Ensure the domain is unlocked

Transfer Rejected

  • Domain may be within the 60-day lock period
  • Domain may still be locked
