Account Functions
This is where you spend most of your time as a reseller:
- Create a New Account — Provision a new cPanel account for a client
- List Accounts — View all client accounts you have created
- Modify an Account — Change a client's package, resource limits, or settings
- Terminate an Account — Remove a client's account (use with caution)
- Suspend/Unsuspend an Account — Temporarily disable a client's account (e.g., for non-payment)
Packages
- Add a Package — Create hosting plans with defined resource limits
- Edit a Package — Modify existing packages
- Delete a Package — Remove unused packages
DNS Functions
- Add a DNS Zone — Create DNS zones for domains
- Edit DNS Zone — Modify existing DNS records
- Delete a DNS Zone — Remove DNS zones
- View email routing for accounts under your management
- Manage email restrictions and settings
Server Information
- Server Status — View CPU, memory, and disk usage
- Show Bandwidth Usage — Monitor bandwidth consumption across all accounts
Key Tasks You Will Perform
Creating a Client Account
- Navigate to Account Functions > Create a New Account
- Fill in the domain, username, password, and email
- Select a hosting package
- Choose resource limits or use package defaults
- Click Create
The client will receive their cPanel login credentials and can start managing their site.
Monitoring Resources
Click Server Information > Server Status to see:
- Current CPU load
- Memory usage
- Disk usage breakdown
- Number of accounts
This helps you understand whether you are approaching your reseller plan limits and need to upgrade.
Suspending an Account
If a client has not paid or violates your terms:
- Go to Account Functions > Manage Account Suspension
- Select the account
- Enter a reason (visible to you only)
- Click Suspend
The client will see a suspension notice when they try to access their website or cPanel.
Navigating Efficiently
WHM has a search bar at the top of the left menu. Type any keyword (like "create account" or "backup") to quickly jump to the right page. This is the fastest way to navigate WHM once you learn the feature names.
What Clients See vs. What You See
- You see WHM — The administrative panel where you manage all accounts
- Your clients see cPanel — Their individual control panel for managing their own website, email, databases, and files
Your clients cannot see other clients' accounts or your WHM panel. Each cPanel account is completely isolated.
Next Steps
Now that you are familiar with the WHM interface, we recommend:
- Creating your first hosting package
- Setting up a test account to explore the client experience
- Configuring private nameservers for white-label branding
